Peter Folkes Prep School Art Exhibition
The Peter Folkes Art Exhibition aims to encourage and celebrate creativity in Prep schools. 2018 showcased some of the best work from across Hampshire in the inspiring surroundings of the School’s Art studios and Atrium gallery. For the Private View, parents, pupils and teachers from King Edward’s were joined by those from Stroud, Durlston, Pilgrims, Forres Sandle Manor, Princes Mead, Westhill Park and Sherborne House to enjoy an evening of incredible art, all beautifully presented. It was lovely to see pupils and teachers being inspired by the work of others. King Edward’s Head of Art, Mr Piggott presented prizes to several young artists and made glowing reports about the art from all of the schools. Whilst there was a competitive element and the standard to art on display was extremely high, the parents and teachers remarked on the friendly, celebratory atmosphere of the event.
The feedback was so positive we have decided to make it an annual event. 2019’s Peter Folkes Exhibition took place on 12th March and we welcomed back Durlston, Pilgrims, Forres Sandle Manor, Stroud, Princes Mead, Westhill Park, and Sherborne, as well as new entrants Walhampton and Salisbury Cathedral School.
