Community Events take place regularly at the school, through hire of facilities as well as the school’s own outreach programmes. King Edward’s has a long tradition of working in partnership with regional and national organisations to open up the school and make it’s facilities and expertise available to a wider audience. The School was delighted to host the BBC South Children in Need 2018 team, with live broadcasts, including performances from the South’s Children’s Choir, throughout the evening from its Dobson Theatre.
In addition, the Dobson Theatre and studios are regularly hired out to local community groups for everything from choral performances to ballet classes, Chinese New Year events through to children’s drama activities.
The School hosts biannual Science Festivals (2018, 2020) and Arts Festivals (2017, 2019), which include public events such as performances and lectures. Our annual Peter Folkes Prep School Exhibition is a celebration of young people’s creativity across Hampshire and Wiltshire and brings together the very best art from the region’s prep school pupils.
