Languages – French
Here in the French department we aim to promote the enjoyment of French from the First Year through to the Upper Sixth. Our team of five teachers and two French assistants work together and teach with enthusiasm and dedication in order to make the lessons stimulating and rewarding.
All classes have their own dedicated course on the School VLE Programme, ‘Kesmoodle’ or via the student resources section on the left hand side of this page and every classroom is equipped with an interactive white board and the necessary sound systems. These excellent resources all help to support our students as they develop their linguistic skills. With the introduction of iPads, more classes are using digital textbooks and this opens up the opportunities to practise a range of skills outside the classroom.
French students are encouraged to take part in a number of extra-curricular activities. There is a four day visit to Normandy for our Lower School pupils and Upper School pupils are offered a short trip to Paris once every two years, whilst the Sixth Form students take part in a Language visit to Montpellier. Conferences, visiting speakers and theatre groups all play a part in making the learning of French an exciting and positive experience for all.
