Languages – Spanish
The number of pupils studying Spanish has increased greatly in recent years, partly as a result of the national trend, and partly as a result of the infectious enthusiasm and expertise of a thriving department here at King Edward’s.
The teachers in the department, many of whom are native speakers, have an in-depth knowledge of the Spanish language and of Spanish and Hispanic culture, and their passion is readily transmitted to their pupils. There are also two Spanish Language Assistants who work with pupils at all levels of the School.
We have successful and well-established links with Spain: a regular visit to Cataluña for members of the First and Second Years, a Homestay and language lessons programme in the Third and Fourth Years, and an annual study week in Salamanca for Sixth Formers.
