Languages – German

Willkommen! Welcome to the German Department! Immer vorwärts!

The German Department aims to provide a supportive, carefully structured and well-resourced learning environment for all students from the First to the Upper Sixth Year.

German is taught by a highly experienced, enthusiastic team who convey their passion for the language. The foreign language is regularly used as the means of instruction and communication, as we place great emphasis on developing effective communication skills in the foreign language.

Trips and further language activities are a vital part of the co-curricular life of the Department, with trips to Aachen for the Lower School and either Berlin or another German city for the Upper School. We are lucky to welcome the theatre production company Onatti each year, who perform a play completely in German, much to the students’ delight. Lower School pupils enjoy the weekly German Club, where they practise vocabulary and learn about German culture through games and competitions.
