Languages – French

Here in the French department we aim to promote the enjoyment of French from the First Year through to the Upper Sixth. Our team of experienced teachers and French assistants work together and teach with enthusiasm and dedication in order to make the lessons stimulating and rewarding.

All classes follow a challenging and varied French course adapted to each group and each student’s individual needs. Every classroom has an interactive white board and we have access to several well-equipped computer suites. These excellent resources all help to support our students as they develop their linguistic skills. Furthermore, the schoolwide use of iPads allows classes to use digital textbooks and this opens up the opportunities to practise a range of skills outside the classroom.

French students are encouraged to take part in a number of extra-curricular activities. In the Lower School, there is a four day visit to Normandy and Upper School pupils are offered a short trip to Paris once every two years. In the Sixth Form, students can take part in a Language visit to Montpellier. Conferences, visiting speakers and theatre groups all play a part in making the learning of French an exciting and positive experience for all.
