Drama and Theatre Studies
We believe passionately that the study of Drama offers not just intellectual and performance skills but skills for life. Our students learn to command the attention of a room full of people, they present themselves confidently and they learn the arts of collaboration, cooperation and effective communication. They also have a lot of fun in the process!
In years 7 and 8 Drama is taught by specialists in one lesson per two week cycle. In year 9 pupils can opt to do Theatre Studies: this practically-based course offers them performance opportunities, backstage skills and knowledge of theatre history. The course is taught in 3 lessons per two week cycle. GCSE Drama and A level Theatre Studies are well-established at King Edward’s providing students with challenging, academic and vibrant examination courses.
