Welcome to King Edward’s and I hope that you enjoy visiting our website. The School has a long and distinguished history and it has been at the heart of Southampton for 465 years. However, while proud of our heritage, we are a very forward looking, vibrant and dynamic institution.
We aim to prepare students for a rapidly changing world. The School has long had a reputation for impressive academic results but, while essential for future success, we are looking for pupils with a wide range of skills and interests. We combine the pursuit of academic excellence with a range of opportunity and challenge to develop self-confident and independent young people who have a strong sense of community and will become responsible and reflective future leaders. High quality teaching, a strong sense of belonging and the space to grow and achieve full potential is what we offer at King Edward’s.
The School continues to invest in its facilities and will be opening a new Theatre, Art Department and VI form Centre in September 2017. Over £20 million worth of investment has taken place over the past decade with a new sports ground and pavilion at Wellington, an outward bound centre on Dartmoor, complete refurbishment of all classrooms and laboratories, new music facilities and extensive IT provision including the adoption of 1:1 technology for all pupils.
We hope that you will visit us to see for yourselves. Why not come along to one of our open evenings or visit us on a normal school day and have a tour of our principal site on Hill Lane. You will be made very welcome!
