Science Live London!
The Upper Sixth Upper Sixth chemists also enjoyed a Science Live event last week. An enthusiastic group travelled to London to hear some inspirational speakers presenting on a wide variety of topics at the cutting edge of their research. The highlight of the day was a presentation given by Dr Peter Wothers, from the University of Cambridge, on the elusive world of electrons through wave functions and software models. The students found this subject fascinating in spite of the complex nature of the material. Other well received talks included ‘The 10 most Beautiful Experiments in Chemistry’ and ‘Mercury, the most shimmering element of the Periodic Table’.
