Science Live

Fifty-four Fourth Year students enjoyed a day at Science Live in Oxford last week where they listened to talks from leading research scientists, including Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock (now presenting the Sky at night) and Lord Robert Winston.  Students were previously unaware of how single electron transistors present a quantum problem, how the master genes in development are conserved across many species or how you investigate apoptosis in embryonic cells. Possibly the highlight was learning about the uniqueness of ice as a solid material and Andrea Sella who made dry ice-bergs to finish the day.
