How to run a small business!

The Lower Sixth Business students ventured to the Songbird ice cream cafe & creative space in Bitterne Triangle yesterday to learn about running a small business from one of the proprietors, Mr Rayner. During the visit, students heard about the numerous fixed costs that the business faces and the difficulties of pricing and revenue generation, as well as diversification into creative evenings. The students were lucky enough to be set some homework involving the importation of Kenyan craft products, which has necessitated research into transport costs and exchange rate issues. They were also able to sample one of the key products and some are hoping to return during the ‘Christmas at the Triangle’ event this Saturday.
