Spiritual Development

We have a Christian tradition but fully recognise other creeds. We believe that clear spiritual and moral guidance is important.
School assemblies offer a chance for the whole school to meet together. They are important in establishing and enjoying a sense of community, for exploring the human experience in a challenging and diverse way. There are also opportunities for informal meetings of staff and pupils to explore religious ideas and to worship. We aim to open eyes and broaden horizons.
There is a close association, dating back to the sixteenth century, with St Mary’s Church in Southampton. This is marked by a stained glass portrayal of the School in the Great West Window.
At Christmas the School holds a Carol Service and the Service of Thanksgiving is held in the Spring Term. Parents are warmly welcomed to these occasions.
