The ‘Know IT All - for Parents’ seminar covers some simple, practical steps that parents can take to help limit the risks as well as advice they can give their child about Internet Safety. Run by Childnet International, the evening will consist of a one hour presentation followed by an opportunity to ask questions. During the presentation Childnet will take parents through how young people are discovering, connecting and creating in new and exciting ways using online and mobile technologies. The world of social networking spaces (MySpace, Piczo, Facebook, Bebo etc) will be opened up and parents will be given an insight into why young people use these spaces. Potential online risks including cyberbullying and unwanted contact will be tackled. Parents will be given resources to take home in order to further explore the issues and help available online. Childnet has worked with government, online industry, adults and children; they are experts in the field of online and mobile safety education. This session is offered to all parents annually and is normally held early in the Spring Term.
