Three Dignissimas for Music have been awarded this week in the light of the Turner Sims Spring Concert on Wednesday.
Maya Garside produced a wonderful performance of 'Chopin's C sharp minor prelude'. Mrs Freemantle notes, ‘it was performed with poise and exceptional musicianship exploiting a full range of colours on the superb Steinway concert grand piano.’
Joe Winter is to be congratulated on providing the superb rhythm backbone for the seven Chamber Orchestra and Big Band. Mrs Freemantle comments, 'Joe is a consummate musician, and is able to adapt to various styles of playing on the drum kit and to pull off technically demanding solo passages with impeccable timing and flair.’
Joe Arthur produced an outstanding performance of Chopin's phenomenally difficult 'Ballade'. Mrs Freemantle remarks, ‘Joe played with extraordinary technical assurance and innate musicianship leaving the audience completely spellbound.’
