The Music Department provides an open, exciting and challenging environment for all students to develop as musicians. Standards are high and large numbers of students participate in a diverse and vibrant programme of musical activities.
There is something to suit all musical tastes from the Symphony Orchestra and SATB Choir to the Big Band, Sax Quartet and Concert Band. There are many opportunities for students to perform in concerts at school and in the wider community.
Students enjoy working in a purpose built department with a recording studio, recital room and music technology suite.
Regular trips to concerts and operas are arranged and professional musicians are invited in to the department to lead a range of workshops and master classes. This year we have been delighted to welcome Matthew Barley as our musician in residence. There are a number of Scholarships and Music Awards available for advanced musicians.
