The number of pupils studying Spanish has increased greatly in recent years, partly as a result of what is a national trend, partly as a result of the infectious enthusiasm and expertise of a thriving department here at King Edward’s.
The four teachers in the department, one of whom is a native speaker, have an in-depth knowledge of the Spanish language and of Spanish and Hispanic culture, and their passion is readily transmitted to their pupils. There is also a full-time Spanish Language Assistant who works with pupils at all levels of the School.
We have successful and well-established links with Spain: a regular visit to Cataluña for members of the First and Second Years, a Homestay and language lessons programme in the Third and Fourth Years, and an annual study week in Salamanca for Sixth Formers.
