Trip to Florence, Italy, February 16th - 20th 2017
This trip is for members of the Third and Fourth Year who are studying Italian, and to Art students in the Fourth Year. This will be a cultural, informative, artistic and linguistic opportunity to visit one of the most iconic cities in Europe.
We will spend five days and four nights in the city of Florence, with its wealth of historical art and architecture. Declared a world heritage site by UNESCO in 1982, Florence is considered the birthplace of the Renaissance and is the capital city of Tuscany. It is arguably one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
We will travel by plane from London to Pisa and then by coach on the short trip to Florence, via Pisa and the Leaning Tower. We will stay together with half board in a 3* hotel, which we will use as our base to visit the sites of the city. This will include a visit to the Uffizi art gallery, the Accademia to see Michelango's David, the Medici Chapel, il Duomo, the Ponte Vecchio, and allow us to take in many more sights and sounds of the city. We will be provided with packed lunches and will eat dinner each night in a local restaurant. Three hours of Italian lessons on three days, (optional for Art students), will develop language skills and help prepare KES students for tackling language-based tasks in the local shops. All students will do a cookery lesson, learning how to make pizza, and this will be their lunch that day!
Further details about the trip, including a more specific itinerary can be found on the Information Pack document.
