Languages - French

Here in the French department we aim to promote the enjoyment of French from the First Year through to the Upper Sixth. Our team of seven teachers and two French assistants work together and teach with enthusiasm and dedication in order to make the lessons stimulating and rewarding.
The two multi-media centres are regularly used to support the pupils as they improve their speaking and listening skills. All classes have their own dedicated course on the School VLE Programme, ‘Kesmoodle’ and every classroom is equipped with an interactive white board and the necessary sound systems. These excellent resources all help to support our students as they develop their linguistic skills.
French students are encouraged to take part in a number of extra-curricular activities. These include a four day visit to Normandy and an exchange with a school in Le Havre for our Lower School pupils. Upper School pupils are now being offered a short trip to Paris, whilst the Sixth Form students take part in an exchange with a school in Angers. Conferences, visiting speakers and theatre groups all play a part in making the learning of French an exciting and positive experience for all.
