We in the Drama Department believe passionately that the study of Drama offers not just intellectual and performance skills but important skills for life. Our students learn to command the attention of a room full of people, they present themselves confidently and clearly and they learn the arts of collaboration, cooperation and effective communication. They also have a lot of fun in the process!
In years 7 and 8 Drama is taught by specialists in one lesson per two week cycle. In year 9 pupils can opt to do Theatre Studies: this practically-based course offers them performance opportunities, backstage skills and knowledge of theatre history. The course is taught in 3 lessons per two week cycle. GCSE Drama and A level Theatre Studies are well established at King Edward’s providing students with challenging, academic and vibrant examination courses.
