Corset Making Workshop - Activities Day 5th July 2013
Spend the day in textiles in the Design and Technology department learning to make a basic corset top. You will be learning how to cut out pattern pieces, sew seams, fabric decoration and embellishment techniques including the use of heat foil, fusible fibres and fabric painting. Your corset top could include recycled materials, appliqué, embroidery, buttons or beads. The day will culminate in a photo shoot of all your handmade creations.
A selection of fabric, materials and equipment will be provided at school however if you wish you could bring:
• Any fabric you would like to use, a range of colours will be available in school
• Beads or buttons
• Lace trim or other embellishments
Before the day you will need to provide Miss Stone with the size of corset top you would like to make.
Please bring a plain black top with you, to wear under your handmade top, for a photo shoot at the end of the day.
Some past experience and the ability to use a sewing machine will be helpful.
