Two groups of 30 Upper school pupils visit Shirley Junior School for half an hour’s paired reading every Monday and Friday lunchtime. They have a Year 3 reading buddy and there is a mix of hearing their pupil read and then reading to that pupil. Our students stay with their Year 3 pupil for one term and then move on to work with a new pupil. Everybody gets quite attached to his or her buddy and positive relationships are forged between pupils, the schools and the representation of reading as an activity. |
